Not sure I understand the question. If you're asking should you take a Corp fin class in summer school vs something else I would say take the something else. Still, please clarify what you are asking.
Google Damadoran NYU, take his corporate finance class online. He posts all his lectures, etc.
Is this what a college freshman looking to get a summer internship should do or just what someone looking to further their knowledge should do? Would a paid, but worse class, where I can get certification be a better route?
When you're in college any real internship (paid or unpaid) is a better idea than summer classes, no matter what.
