FLDP Programs
I am a current undergrad studying accounting who is looking to go into corporate rather than public. I have been reading about FLDP programs and am curious as to what are some of the most well-known /recognized FLDP programs in the U.S.
Depends on your geographic area, but Lockheed Martin, Johnson & Johnson, GE, and Microsoft come to mind.
A lot of well known companies have them and don't advertise them as as much, including the program I'm in.
Chances are if it's a F500, it has some form of rotational program. I'd advise you to consider this question: What industry are you interested in? You'll be working both in back-office like accounting roles and in a business unit...enthusiasm for a particular industry is going to help a lot.
I think a lot of people get prestige and age of an FLDP program mixed. Older programs are certainly established and have trajectories for their graduates, but that could lend itself to stiff structure and little wiggle-room. Fresher FLDP programs may not have the established agendas and incentives, but you may have a big influence on what rotations you take and where you geographically work.
Could you or someone give examples of "fresher" FLDP programs vs. older programs? Would it be simply older companies vs. newer? Or possibly older companies that may have new or re-tooled programs? Thanks.
One brand new one I know of is Murphy USA's Analyst Development program. This is a spinoff company from Murphy Oil, only about 3 years old now and their first analyst class will start the summer of '17
