FP&A in Maritime Industry

Hi everyone. First-time poster.

Speaking with CFO at US-based shipping company about FP&A role after I finish school.

Currently at a near-target school for Economics MA (same school as my BA). Shipping has been my passion since I was a kid. Have built decent network in law, ship finance, vessel mgmt, etc.

At the end of the day, maxing out comp at this level is not the priority. I need money to provide for my family. Good WLB is important.

Also considering IB roles coming out of graduation, and maybe law school down the road. Just don't have the internship/study background in banking (yet).

Company is rather large, also the only one of significance HQed in this city (which I would like to stay in long-term).

In short, is an FP&A role at a company like this worthwhile? Is there anyone here who has/had a similar role and can speak on it?

Thanks.
