What financial modeling course would you recommend for corp dev?

I have a few corporate development interviews coming up (non-IB background) and I need to improve my financial modeling skills.

Most of the online courses appear to be for Investment Banking or PE. Is there enough overlap in that for corp dev or would you recommend something else?

Thanks!

Are you interviewing at the Associate level or for a Manager role? I can provide context on Associate-level interviews, some of which may be sufficient for a Manager level scenario. I typically havent gotten modeling tests but I have been given case studies, and I think it is more about your technical knowledge than can you build out a 30 min DCF with synergies for example.

I would expect that would be sufficient. I have worked at two different Corp Dev roles at the Associate level. While both valuation approaches varied drastically, the net result was standardized technical questions because it wasnt possible to prep further without knowing how they model their deals. I would expect the DCF to be a check the box exercise, similar to paper LBOs for PE Associate interviews.

Basic IB modeling is probably sufficient for most case study (e.g., comps, DCF). I was once asked to create a merger model, but that was the exception not the norm.

For what it's worth, most of the case studies I've done were qualitative over quantitative. They were more of looking at a specific vertical and making a recommendation for a potential acquisition base off of available information. So for example, finding a tech startup that makes sense as a target and recommending it based off of qualitative factors / parameters (e.g., size, employee profile, fundraising, product strength, management profile, etc.).
