ABF Analyst Exit Opps
Hey everyone,
Have an offer to join an asset-backed finance team at a small boutique in London as an analyst. Role involves structuring capital facilities and securitization frameworks for SMEs, building debt waterfalls etc, plus decent levels of client interaction. Would ideally like to work in a similar team at a PC fund down the line. Is such an exit feasible at this stage? What other options are there, given that it's pretty much a no-name boutique with no brand recognition?

which firm? or whats their aum?
Hey, would rather not give the name since it's pretty small and I don't want to out myself, but it's around $150-250m.
Based on my experience, banks hire laterally at the Analyst and Associate level. Your best bet is to get to grips with fundamentals / modelling in this role, and use it to be really competitive for investment bank roles, and then from there, pivot into the buyside.
I've seen a few people with this career path.
Appreciate the response - so basically try to lateral to the ABF team at a bigger bank? Would you be aware of which firms are strongest in the space? New to the field, not sure what the pecking order is.
