Comp - no idea on comp, but definitely no carry at Ares for associates
Culture - 4x days in office, Friday from home
Deals - lending against anything that has a pool of assets below, think lending against loan books, lending against PE funds, lending against (diversified) corporate acquirers. When i say lending, it can truly be anything from sr secured and 1L to 2L, unsecured and PIK
No idea on comp but agreed that carry would not be involved for aso - it’s typically earned at VP minimum at Ares. Bonuses have been poor at Ares across strategies for two successive years now.
Hours will be similar to banking in Alternative Credit. 4 days in person is theoretically in place but realistically all juniors are in the office 5 days a week (if not more).
Alternative Credit will always be 2nd tier to Private Credit at Ares, as are all other strategies. Would be similar to Real Estate, but better than PE (which is in disarray atm). London office is managed by the three co-heads of european direct lending who are smart but ruthless.
Some of the data here is wrong.
Bonuses have not been poor across strategies, contrary, they've been pretty strong (maybe not in AltCredit, but can speak for other funds here)
AltCred is not in on Fridays and also not on weekends
Thanks for this — how do you know about the comp & hours? Concerning that they’re both poor…
please send me a PM if you can. Cheers
Any info on the pedigree / profile of associates? What HH do they use?
If I’m not mistaken they use Dartmouth as HH.

Anyone has their or other distressed / special sits / credit case studies and willing to swap or sell?
