BB Corporate Banking Hours/Comp

Anyone have insight on JPM/Citi/Bofa hours & culture at the associate level in NYC?

I’ve heard 175/200/225 for aso 1/2/3 but would appreciate more confirmation. Guessing bonus range is 10-50%?

Currently at a MM bank (PNC/Truist/Capital One/Etc) with a great lifestyle (40-60hrs) and decent pay, but wanting to see if other shops that house CB with IB are similar.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what can be inferred about the hours and culture at the associate level in NYC for BB (Bulge Bracket) banks, although the context provided doesn't specifically mention corporate banking or JPM/Citi/BofA:

  • Hours: The hours for investment banking associates can be quite demanding. For example, a first-year MBA associate's typical hours at a BB in NYC might range from 9:00 am to 9:00/10:00 pm on weekdays, with additional work as needed on weekends. Second-year and beyond associates might see a slight reduction in hours. However, these hours can vary greatly depending on the group and whether there are live deals.

  • Culture: The culture can be intense, with a strong focus on deal execution and client service. Associates are expected to be highly committed and often work long hours to meet the demands of the job.

  • Compensation: While the context doesn't provide specific numbers for corporate banking, it does mention that experienced associates in investment banking might work roughly 60-65 hours on average and have some remote work on weekends. The bonus range you mentioned (10-50%) could be plausible, but it's important to note that bonuses can be highly variable and depend on the bank's performance, the individual's performance, and the overall market conditions.

If you're considering a move from a MM (Middle Market) bank to a BB, it's important to weigh the potential increase in hours and stress against the possible benefits, such as higher compensation and the prestige associated with working at a larger institution. Remember, the lifestyle at a BB can be significantly more demanding than at a MM bank, and this could impact your work-life balance.

For more specific information on corporate banking hours and compensation at JPM/Citi/BofA, you might want to look for threads on WSO that focus on corporate banking specifically, as the context provided is more centered around investment banking.
