Corporate & Real Estate Banking interview prep?

Hi All,

I had a first round fit/behavioral interview for a Corporate and Real Estate Banking summer analyst position. I’m anticipating that the second round will be more technical and knowledge based, but I can’t get a comprehensive idea of the topics that I should be prepared to explain and know. I understand that it will probably require a solid understanding of financial statement analysis but wanted to ask on here if anyone had input into specific things I should study to have a solid foundation. Thank you!

Hey there!

Sounds like you're gearing up for a big interview - exciting times! Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you might want to focus on for a Corporate and Real Estate Banking summer analyst position:

  1. Financial Statement Analysis: You're spot on with this one. Be prepared to discuss the three main financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement) and how they interrelate. Brush up on key ratios and what they indicate about a company's financial health.

  2. Real Estate Specifics: Understand the basics of real estate finance, including key metrics like Net Operating Income (NOI), Cap Rates, and Cash on Cash returns. Be able to discuss how factors like location, market trends, and interest rates can impact property values.

  3. Corporate Banking Products: Familiarize yourself with the products and services offered in corporate banking, such as loans, treasury services, and trade finance.

  4. Deal Structures: Be ready to discuss different types of deal structures in real estate and corporate banking, and why a particular structure might be used.

  5. Market Knowledge: Stay updated on current market trends in both the corporate and real estate sectors.

Remember, the WSO Academy has a range of courses that could help you prepare, including the Financial Statement Modeling course and the Real Estate Financial Modeling course.

Good luck with your prep! You're going to knock it out of the park!
