Is it okay to apply for a lateral job in the same bank?
I am currently transitioning from working as a commercial credit analyst at a very small community bank to Transaction Management at a very large Bank. While TM isn't exactly what I want to do, I believe being at a very big bank will carry more weight on my resume and will allow better exit opportunities / lateral opportunities. Is it frowned upon to apply to other positions internally within the Bank? Will my manager/MD become aware, and will that put me at risk of being fired? I am coming from a small $500MM asset-sized bank to one of the largest banks in the US, so any advice would be appreciated.
