TCW Super Day

Hi all - I have a super day at TCW coming up, really excited about the opportunity. Has anyone gotten to this stage with them that could shed some light on what to expect? Seems like it will mostly be fit / behavioral with of course questions about credit / deal experience, but figured any additional intel would be welcome.

Thank you!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here’s what you need to know to prepare for your TCW Superday:

  1. Behavioral Questions:

    • Behavioral questions are a significant focus. Prepare anecdotes for common themes like:
      • A time you failed.
      • A time you succeeded.
      • A time you worked in a team.
      • How you navigated conflict.
      • Why you want to work at TCW.
      • Why you’re interested in credit/deal experience.
    • Use frameworks like SOAR (Situation, Obstacle, Action, Result) to structure your answers concisely and effectively.
  2. Fit Questions:

    • Be ready to discuss your resume in detail. Practice your "walk me through your resume" pitch.
    • Tailor your answers to highlight why TCW aligns with your career goals and values.
  3. Credit/Deal Experience:

    • Be prepared to discuss any relevant deal or credit experience in depth.
    • Rehearse explaining every bullet point on your resume and anticipate follow-up questions.
    • If applicable, review the M&I 400 Questions Guide for insights on discussing transaction experience.
  4. Market-Related Questions:

    • While these are harder to predict, you might encounter questions about:
      • M&A trends.
      • Industry trends.
      • Capital markets trends.
      • A stock pitch or a general deal discussion.
    • Stay updated on current market conditions and trends relevant to TCW’s focus areas.
  5. Delivery Matters:

    • How you present your answers is as important as the content. Speak confidently, logically, and with a natural flow.
    • Practice your answers out loud or record yourself to refine your delivery.
  6. Zoom Interview Tips (if applicable):

    • Ensure good lighting and a professional background.
    • Have key market metrics or notes discreetly placed near your camera for quick reference, but don’t over-rely on them.

By preparing thoroughly and practicing your delivery, you’ll be in a strong position to make a great impression. Good luck!
