2.4 GPA, non-target school, previous e/r intern, NEED NETWORKING ADVICE

Hey guys,

I have 2.4 GPA, attend a non-target school, secured an e/r internship in a boutique investment management firm last fall, and I'm having a hard time getting another internship for this coming summer... looking for creative advice and tricks about networking (anything other than LinkedIn networking, cold-calling, cold e-mailing, and OCR)

Thank you guys for any help!

I assume that when you say "Other than LinkedIn and cold calling" you mean that you're already doing those things. I hope you're doing at least that with a 2.4 GPA at a nontarget. With all due respect, that's a very low GPA and networking is going to be your best shot to secure another internship. If you still have time, focus on getting that GPA up. If your major GPA is higher, present that before your cumulative. I know what it's like coming from nontarget (see username), but you gotta network your ass off to get jobs. My best success has come from cold emailing. Don't cold call. Just out of curiosity, how did you get your first internship?

Yeah I’ve been doing that a lot and successfully landed interviews at great firms (equity research at a pension fund, private equity a couple of times). However, none of them have panned out and I’m trying to figure out how to rectify that. For my first internship, I was at a tennis tournament and played doubles with the portfolio manager of that firm... you can guess the rest of the story
