Ad Sales Research--->Equity Research?

If this is a stupid question, then I ask you to please go easy on me. Or make the jokes really really good.

So I'm a sophomore at a target school looking for something related to Equity Research this summer. I ran across a few media companies (or companies with a media presence) offering TV/Ad Sales internships. Would this be at all relevant to ER? The descriptions seem similar except that I will be analyzing market trends sales from advertisements rather than stocks.

"TV/Ad Sales internships" sounds pretty vague. However, if you developed industry specific knowledge of media companies, I would expect this would definitely benefit you. I'm not too sure how much specialized understanding there is in the media industry, but I don't expect there would be too much? (Just my opinion given that I know nothing of media companies, and their valuations)

In other words, if you are applying for a Media Research Associate job/internship, I would think that it would be relevant to the job, if you are applying for a RA job for all other sectors, I would say nay.
