OP is definitely correct. Lots of workflow in research can and should be automated to some extent. And would agree that the emerging importance of being human as a research team is what will separate the good from the bad. Eventually all sell side research will use it and has access to all the same stuff, so where people should look to improve and work towards is building the client facing side of your brand

 

I guess it’s really sector dependent but honestly in the sector I work in all notes/thoughts are pretty similar to begin with. Honestly AI can’t do the actual analysis/reading through the lines part at all in terms of writing (I.e. the actual quality of the beat, positioning/sentiment). I have found much more success in using it for takeaways and explaining read-through as it relates to category dynamics and more conceptual/operational analysis (give me the context behind why company X would do this and how it impacts company Y). That being said, it’s only a matter of time before note writing becomes 99% automated, echoing the sentiment on this site that corporate access is more important than ever.
