Wondering what the best and worst ER sectors are in terms of compensation and exit opportunities.

Almost impossible to answer since the job severely weighted towards the analyst you work for not the firm.
high level, tech and healthcare get paid the best but again if the analyst doesn’t drive revenue don’t expect to get paid.
probably same for exit ops (if you’re speaking HF) but again you could work for the best analyst on the street but if you aren’t good it’ll be obvious and you will struggle to find a seat bc at that point your opinions will actually affect fund performance. If you go IR working for a well known bank will help more tho bc the brand name on the resume prolly will hold some weight
