Best ER shops
Whenever conversations are had about top Equity Research shops it’s always a list that ranks BB firms. So can anyone talk about some of the best ER shops on the street or notable websites?

It really depends on the analyst. I have different go-to analysts for different sub-sectors or even companies. Every firm and analyst has a different style (and quality of research) so it's really hard to rank ER firms as a whole. That said, it's generally accepted that on average JPM is the best, and with all the cuts recently, it kind of feels like they're the only BB investing in their ER franchise right now...
How do you feel about Merrill Lynch?
Again, depends on the analyst. But kind of a barbell in my sector. I have a few in mind that are decent and a few (one in particular) that are just awful
I’ve a had few internships on the buy side, and non-BB research franchises that I’ve consistently heard my bosses speak highly of are: Zelman & Associates, Piper Jaffray, KBW, Jefferies, and especially Cowen.
