Bloomberg Equity Research data analyst interview

I have received an online interview for an equity research data analyst at Bloomberg. Has anyone been through their interview process both online and phone/in person? What questions should I expect? Any broad insight on working for Bloomberg/comp for equity research would be greatly appreciated. Anyone go from Bloomberg equity research to a BB or hedge fund?

I went through a data analyst interview at bloomberg and subsequently accepted the offer, since I really needed a job. You will be doing a lot of financial data management, i.e. making sure that financial data is entered correctly into the system. Understand financial statements; they'll be asking how to calculate weighted average number of shares, for example and they'll be asking you about a recent headline in the financial news. It's a good job coming right out of college, the environment is relaxed and very collegiate.

Comp depends on your level of experience. I was a career changer, came out of graduate school and made something like $65K. i worked out of the princeton NJ office. Free Lunch, free snacks and excellent healthcare. you can't really categorize it between front office, middle office or back office. It's a data entry job, which requires you to understand financial data. You will get a lot of exposure to clients... A LOT. Bloomberg also has a research plattform, called Bloomberg Industries, which is more like sell side research. If you're good and show your usefulness to the right research analyst, you could move into bloomberg research, although that is very difficult. However from bloomberg research, the doors could open easily into equity research. What office did you interview in?

Just had a Super Day for this exact position in NYC. Phone interview is completely behavioral and will ask you about your interesting in Bloomberg, your skills, interest in the position, etc. There were no technicals and it really was just to gauge how your skills and interests match the position itself. It is a brand new position that is meant to feed into the research program after a year or two. Feel free to PM for more info.

Can you PM me regarding your interview? I’d love to hear some more about your interview. It’s giving me an error message when I try.
