Breaking into Equity Research via internship?

Dont really see that many listings for equity research sa 2022 internships like I do IB or S&T. I understand that the recruiting for er is a bit more sporadic in nature, but I was wondering what firms recruit for summer analyst er programs. Thanks

I applied for some equity research internships less than a year ago for this summer. I went through my e-mail and found my old applications maybe they could help. FYI I applied to all of these in August-September, I'm not exactly sure when those applications had opened up but hopefully that time frame gives a good idea.

JPM, CIBC, CS, Piper Sandler, MFS, Raymond James, Manning & Napier (if you search deep you can find smaller shops like these).

For what it's worth, Piper Sandler had quite a bit of ER internship postings for different coverage groups as well.

One way a bunch of folks in ER (especially biotech) break in is through direct industry experience for 2-3 years and then breaking in at a top firm to cover that sector. Seen this a bunch of times at Evercore ISI, JPM, AllianceBernstein's research teams (& most top shops).

I would only do this if you have a very specific sector in mind and internships aren't working out. IE for whatever reason you want to cover automotive, semiconductors then this is a pretty solid way to get in
