What’s the pay like in equity research at boutique shops like Mpartners, Haywood, Echelon etc. ?
Any insight on breaking in, lifestyle, exits would be nice as well.

Research at that tier of firm is less idea generation and more a foot in the door for ECM business. Not to say it's a bad place to start but not where you want to be long term if you're looking to uptier. Have seen exits into research associate roles at the big 5 if that helps.
