Does Wells Fargo have an introductory Equity Research training for its 1st-year analysts or recent MBA graduates?

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to know if Wells Fargo offers any sort of introductory training for its 1st-year analysts and MBA graduates for Equity Research.

If you know, please provide the following details:

1) Approximate time of year training is offered (usually during summer for most new hires)
2) Length of training session
3) Location
4) Any words on the street regarding the quality of their training?

I REALLY APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE YOU GUYS/GALS CAN PROVIDE!!!

Can't speak to Wells Fargo but I've been through a training program at another BB and it was a couple weeks long. I think general consensus is that it's not very helpful, and that you pretty much learn everything once you get on your team. There's just a lot of industry-specific knowledge you'll have to learn.

Thanks for the input. I don't see they offer any training to lateral hires into equity research. Do you know, based on your experiences, if equity research at other BB's offer equity research training for either MBA's or lateral hires? I'm a lateral hire but going in from another industry.

Very little, if any. They usually offer Training the Street and some other basic classes, but they will not be very helpful, especially when you are starting out. It's hard to figure out why they are teaching you this certain skill and where it fits into the larger scheme of equity research (learning this will come with time in the industry). There's just so much industry-specific and analyst-specific nuances that you'll have to learn that it is very hard for a training class to teach you what you will need.

Luckily, I will say that it is possible to come in as a blank slate and learning everything on the job. The more prepared you are the better though, obviously.
