Equity Research 2026 timeline

Currently a sophomore. I am wondering if anyone has any insights on 2026 ER recruiting. I've been doing IB recruiting but have been unsuccessful converting superdays to offers

Based on the most helpful WSO content, there isn't specific information on the 2026 Equity Research (ER) recruiting timeline in the knowledge base. However, here are some general insights and advice that might help you navigate the process:

  1. Recruiting Timeline: ER recruiting timelines often align with Investment Banking (IB) timelines, with applications opening in the summer before your junior year. Networking and informational interviews should ideally start earlier, as many firms prioritize candidates who have established connections.

  2. Networking: Since you've been involved in IB recruiting, leverage the contacts you've made. Reach out to professionals in ER divisions at firms where you've already networked. Express your interest in ER and ask for advice or insights into their recruiting process.

  3. Skill Alignment: Highlight skills that are particularly relevant to ER, such as financial modeling, valuation, and strong writing abilities. If you have experience analyzing companies or industries, make sure to emphasize that in your resume and during interviews.

  4. Alternative Paths: If you're struggling to secure offers through traditional superdays, consider applying to smaller firms or boutique research shops. These firms may have less structured recruiting processes and could provide valuable experience.

  5. Preparation: Focus on building a strong understanding of equity research-specific tasks, such as creating detailed reports, understanding industry trends, and forecasting company performance. Resources like WSO's Financial Modeling and Valuation Bootcamps can be helpful for skill-building.

If you need more tailored advice or resources, consider exploring WSO's forums or reaching out to professionals in the field for guidance.
