Equity Research SA 2020 Thread

Question

Wanted to create a thread for ER recruiting. If you guys could send updates on apps and interviews that would help everyone. From what I know:

-Citi is done
-Baird is almost done

I know there are also a couple of apps open:
-MS
-Lazard
-CS

Been recruiting myself and know at least a dozen others recruiting for ER too. For all who care, this is what I've heard:
JPM & Goldman haven't done anything yet. BAML & Barclays have both already had multiple superdays, might have one or two more. Morgan Stanley, Evercore, Jefferies, Baird have mostly finished first rounds, but haven't done super days yet. Credit Suisse & Keybanc are currently doing first rounds. RBC, Citi, and Wells Fargo are done.

To go a little more in depth in terms of the numbers, MS takes 12, Citi takes 6, RBC takes 6, Barclays I think around 10, Evercore takes 4, no clue how many JP and BAML take. UBS took 0 undergrad interns only MBA. All in all probably around a tenth of what each banks IB classes are. There’s also a flip side to it where although I don’t know for sure, maybe a tenth of the people apply too. I don’t think you should be discouraged looking at these numbers though. If you’re really determined about getting into ER, you can land an ER gig cause most people are doing it as a backup.

Kinda just want to include this in the record for future generations of ER interns who see this thread, but I've been really shocked by how few seats there are available. Most of the BBs are only taking 10ish undergraduate interns. The MMs are taking only about a half-dozen. And the boutiques are taking 1 or 2 if any.

There are some banks that have incoming IBD classes of nearly 100 kids, but I'd venture to say that they're less than 100 undergrad ER interns across all of Wall Street. Pretty wild...
