ER Industry Switch
I'm fresh out of college. Interned at a buy-side firm before covering internet stocks. Found the industry fascinating but ended up with an offer covering big pharma at a boutique sell-side shop.
Not sure if the industry is my cup of tea, though it may grow on me later. Just curious if it's possible to switch industries in ER and if it's a wise thing to do. Should I let go of this opportunity and wait for an opening in tech to show up??
Any advice or experience sharing is much appreciated!
Thanks, K
Totally doable and likely easier if you're newer to the industry/younger. An associate on the team I interned for last summer moved from healthcare to energy. You just have to be opportunistic when a spot opens up on another team and literally just ask if you can interview for it. It helps if you have networked with people on the team you want to switch to. This is a BB though so can't speak to smaller boutiques.
