Fordham to Target Transfer

I’m currently a senior in HS who just got accepted to Fordham on scholarship. My parents don’t have the money necessary to send me to a better school, so I was thinking that I’d work for a year or two while studying at Fordham, and then transfer out to a better NY school (NYU, Columbia, etc). My ultimate goal is to get an equity research gig, and I don’t think that Fordham places to well in that department. Is this a feasible path? thanks in advance.

apply to transfer to brown, cornell, and georgetown as well (brown is need-aware for transfers, so might want to be mindful if asking for finaid).

all 3 are great target schools with storied traditions of taking transfer students + great finaid.

dartmouth and duke are strong targets that have become more open to transfers lately (although mostly from ivies & t20s).

usc is also a good option if you like the west coast.

one of the founding principals of tidal partners was a community college transfer to georgetown.

aim high, cast a wide net, and don’t be afraid of rejection, as it will happen even when you recruit for IBD/buyside from HYPSM & W.

rejection happens to everyone, so might as well start the journey now - good luck!
