If I am not a huge fan of writing....

Hi, I come from an engineering background, and I cam currently getting a masters in economics. I am not a huge fan of "creative" writing papers, so would pursuing ER be pretty much useless?

I really enjoy the research and talking about my data and expressing my opinions, but will the reports require a lot of fluff and fancy grammar?

I mean it's not necessarily fluff/"fancy" grammar (what is fancy grammar even?) but you do need effective prose; it should be incisive and maybe a tad lively. Except for the occasional pun I don't see much "creative writing", so to speak.

So given that, I don't think it should be too much of an issue. But you do write a lot and you need to be an effective writer, though not necessarily "creative".

Ok thank you. I was under the impression of when people say "you need to be able to sell your work" that meant a lot of fluff. But I enjoy writing research reports and being incisive, I just need to work on the lively part so I don't sound dull.
