Internship

I am a first year undergrad student pursuing a degree in financial markets from a target school. I have networks in JP Morgan chase co. and Bofa. When i apply for summer internship programs to these banks and provide a referral as well would the interviewers prioritize my application?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, having a referral from someone within the bank, especially at firms like JP Morgan Chase or Bank of America, can significantly increase the chances of your application being prioritized. Networking and securing strong referrals are often key factors in standing out during the application process.

As highlighted in WSO threads, simply submitting an application online without connections gives you a very slim chance of landing an interview (figuratively described as "0.01%"). However, a referral can push your application to the top of the pile, as it signals to the recruiters that someone within the firm vouches for you. This is particularly important for competitive roles like summer internships in investment banking.

To maximize your chances: 1. Build genuine connections with your network at these banks. 2. Ensure your referral is strong and comes from someone who can speak positively about your potential. 3. Pair your referral with a well-crafted resume and application to make a compelling case.

Good luck with your applications!
