Is it feasible to pivot into Research?

Hey guys, I'm in a tricky situation here. I have recruited and worked in management consulting at EY Parthenon throughout my entire undergraduate career and secured a full-time offer. However, I was told yesterday that my offer had been pushed back until March 2026. As an international, this will simply not work for me because of visa compliance, so I'm thinking of finding temporary gigs until EYP can bring me on or pivoting to research. I wanted to ask whether people think this is possible at all, especially so late in the game. Not too sure about how timelines for research roles work, so I wanted to consult here first. I guess I'm posting in the Equity Research forum, but I would be mostly interested in Macro/Fixed Income/Sovereign Research. Please let me know what you guys think.
