Langenberg and company internship
Has anyone ever heard of this company or internship? I saw the job posting and recently had a phone interview with them. I guess I'm just a little bit wary. It's an unpaid internship, 10 hours per week, and one year commitment. It sounds like there's a bunch of interns involved. Also, you can move up within the ranks based on his "point" system. He definitely has a strong track record but he's running the show and doesnt seem to have any help outside of his group of interns.
What do you guys think? Has anyone had experience with this company?
You can find the posting by googling "langenberg and company internship"
Looks like a one-man company. Any remote internships are sketchy. I'd find something else.
I think that if you go to the website, it gets pretty obvious that it's legit.
Even if it's one guy covering all those firms, it clearly isn't some half-assed effort. It's a 10-hour per week commitment, what have you got to lose? Go for it.
Any firm that has to post internship opportunities on InternMatch can't be very good.
This is funny, I actually talked to this guy too. I think a lot of it is just that the operation is pretty small and I think he's looking for not a team of cookie cutter interns (at least that was the opinion I got). As far as moving up and the points thing, I don't think he's in any position to be hiring any full time analysts so I wouldn't anticipate getting an offer. I'm seeing where this takes me and considering I'm already working full time, 10 hours a week is something I can handle. If its all BS I'm sure you'll find out sooner rather than later. And to be honest I am so bored at my day job I'm welcoming anything to pique my interest at this point.
This sounds pretty cool - I've heard of the guy before - can you tell me more about his system? What is the point system? How many other interns does he have?
Any updates on this? I interviewed with him today.
Sorry I don't feel like I can go further into his point system. He makes it very clear that all of his docs are confidential. Have to say it's impressive though. When you get the offer he sends you like a 12 page packet outlining the program and what is expected and how things will work.
I think I'm going to go for it. But I'm deferring my start date until the end of summer and I'll plan to intern during the school year. I'd be interested to know if anyone has been rejected from the program. It kind of seems like if you have a pulse you're in. We'll see I guess
I just want to get a sense of how many guys he has working for him
It seems like that, but just check out his website. It doesn't seem like it's working b/c there are a lot of errors.
I worked with Langenberg for over 3 months. This internship is a complete waste of time and at the very least, a very slapdash attempt at starting a company. I was given the work of filling out a spread sheet of financial information on a company we were supposedly aiming at doing business with in the near future. The data was on the company website. It was very repetitive and mindless work. I met Langenberg personally at a luncheon he organized over a month ago. I noticed he has derogatory things to say about everyone who works with him. (He mentioned that most of his interns are Chinese immigrants who don't know what they're doing or how to write a resume, he talked down about his disabled business partner, he told me my success as a buyside equity analyst was unlikely because he only knows 3 black people on the buyside. Apparently he knows EVERY buyside analyst in the world.) Last week I asked Langenberg what the next steps were with the company I was covering. He redirected my question and my entire project to some remote partner of his. I was told that there was no intention to work with the company I had been collecting data on and that once I was done with 13 years worth of financial data on the current company, I'd be doing another spreadsheet on a different company. I responded to Langenberg, telling him I wasn't learning anything from this internship program. That's when he told me Langenberg and Company was no longer in operation and that he was looking for a job. This guy and his 'company' are a complete joke. Beware of unpaid internships that are not teaching you anything about the business.
