I sent an email to a managing director in equity research this morning to request an informational interview but he replied: "Today is my last day in equity research" and didn't say anything else. I'm still very interested in speaking with him and was wondering how should I reply the email. Any help would be much appreciated!! Thank you!!!

do not bother people you do not know (even if you do know him, it is basic decency to give people space when they sound like they are frustrated/tired, etc) when they clearly state they want to have nothing to do with something you asked for, his statement could not have been clearer while being polite, you can send cold emails to many other people in the field
