Hi all -
I'll be joining a sell-side team in the next few months and am wondering how much experience I'll need to make the move to the buy-side. The reason I'm asking isn't because I don't like the sell-side, but more for my own knowledge and interest in putting together my '5-year plan.'
I'll also be moving internally and am not too pleased with my current company, but am putting up with it to gain the experience I'd likely not be able to receive elsewhere. This is merely due to the fact that I've been out of undergrad for about 5 years now and have yet to be in a front-office role.
With that said, would an assumption of a year of experience on a sell side team be enough to warrant a move to a hedge fund and/or mutual fund?
