Just jumped ship myself, here’s my 2 cents:

1) Start networking with associates to learn about the industry and if there are open spots at the firm.
2) Take the SIE, should take about 10-14 days of studying.
3) Research a biotech stock, write a brief note, and have a 1 min pitch ready.
4) Once finished with step 2 and 3, cold email senior analysts directly sending the writeup and expressing your interest in joining the team.
5) Patience!

I had a higher response rate from senior analysts and most of them wanted to help. It took me 4 months to land a seat while switching from residency.

Best of luck and happy to chat!

This was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much! It’s nice to hear a success story from a fellow colleague in the medical field. Can I reach out to you to discuss further?
