Operational Metrics used in Stock Exchange entities

I would like to build a financial model abount Stock Exchange entity like nasdaq or cboe, but I don't know which operational mertics is used in these industry to make projections. I know there're GMV in online retail, CVC in tmt and so on. Could you please tell me, which metircs is used and maybe you have an article, which can provide information about this topic.
