RBC equity research

I know the whole speal about how it matters what analyst you're working for, but if they're not ranked...how does RBC fare against other banks in ER? I know they're hiring a lot in IB.

In the context of middle-market equity research firms, I'd say overall they ranked in the middle. Obviously, the biggest determinant of your own experience at RBC -- or any firm for that matter -- will depend on the quality of your senior analyst. However, from my days in equity research, I would usually think of RBC's overall research quality as being somewhere in the middle of the pack within the cluster of Jefferies, Piper Jaffray, Stifel, among others.

I can't really help much, but have heard that the hours/culture are ultra-fascist. Long days, facetime, "put out or get out", go-go-go. But the guy who told me that was a pretty jaded former employee that I suspect was fired (he says otherwise)
