Research Sectors
If I'm trying to get a foot in the door into research is it worth taking anything I can get? How hard is it to switch sectors once in research. Also, is it possible to go from sell side to buy side?
Sell-side to buy-side happens all the time...it's one of the exit ops for sell-side research analysts.
Switching sectors could be difficult, especially if you spent some time already covering a single sector. Maybe in the very early stages you could try and move around, but I don't see something like a 3rd year Healthcare associate moving to work under a Financials analyst.
