Research turnaround times
Hi Guys,
This would be appplicable to those generalist analysts on the buyside.
I was wondering what your turnaround times were for a project? Lets say your PM asked you to take a look at a sector that is new to you and come back with some sort of recommendation on its attractiveness, companies, etc
I can usually do it around 5 five days but find that while I have accumulated decent amount of knowledge and come to conclusion it is still very tough.
Would love to heard your thoughts on this and what would be an ideal timeline and workpractice.
Thanks
MM
Worry less about timing, and more about quality. If you bring him a turd on a stick, even if it's quick, you won't win any points. Generally, PMs are not so rushed - the investment process (depending on the fund - event driven is obviously different) needs time to mature, especially if it's a "new industry" that he's not generally familiar with. Depth and quality are far more important than time.
Thanks for the input Sovjet.
