Rutgers Econ Major, as a feeder school to NYC firms

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting on WSO. I am currently attending Michigan State, I am a freshman. Just wondering about Rutgers-NB as a feeder school to the Big 4 Firms, and what school has a better reputation. I have sent out my transfer app to Rutgers for security because it is due on February 1st, but I wanted to hear some advice on what I should be doing. Also, what is a good minor to have paired with an Economics major. My ultimate goal is to become an Equity Research Analyst, and to work my way up in NYC! Thanks everyone.

Hi Aman,

I'm an econ minor (computer engineering major) at Rutgers interning at a boutique investment bank this spring.

Rutgers' econ program is pretty averagely ranked, and I haven't heard anything exceptional about it. Rutgers Business School's Finance / Accounting majors are much more highly ranked

But Rutgers as a whole sends a ton of kids to Wall Street every year because we're so close to NY. We have a huge student club called Little Investment Bankers of Rutgers that places kids on wall street. Stay heavily involved, keep your GPA up and network, and I think you're pretty much guaranteed to land somewhere for equity research.

PM me if you have any more questions.
