Seeking advice - Recent grad from UCSD

Hello everyone,

I guess I should start off by introducing myself. I'm a recent graduate from UCSD with a degree in Economics and a minor in Math. My overall GPA was a 3.5 and major GPA was a 3.7.

I've only held one internship position while doing my undergrad. I worked directly with the CFO of a biomedical firm which was actively acquiring small businesses. My responsibilities included doing research on the acquisition candidates. This research usually consisted of analyzing financial statements, learning more about the firm's business strategy, management team, and their customers' satisfaction.

My goal is to break into equity research somewhere in the San Francisco bay area, but given that I'm not from a target school and that I don't have the necessary work experience, I'm worried that i won't be able to.

I've signed up for the December CFA level 1 exam, which I'm hoping will make a difference.

My question to WSO is this: How likely is it that I will get offered an interview for a Jr Associate position? Can I get some advice as to how I should approach my job search?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you guys! I'll look into joining the CFA society here in the SF bay area asap.

@FutureBanker09 No, I'm not currently employed. I took the last couple of months off so I could just relax, and catch up with friends I haven't seen in a while as well as study the CFA level 1 material. In hindsight, that was probably not the best idea, but I guess I'll just have to do a lot of networking in order to make up for that lost time.
