Senior Looking to get into Equity Research looking for Advice

Hi all, I'm going into my senior year at a non-target and don't have previous ER experience but would like to work in ER when I graduate. Don't have any connections in Finance, and was wondering if the best way to network would be to message analysts on linkedln and ask to hear about their experience and potentially receive referrals to get interviews? Also wondering if I should take CFA level 1 in December or June 2021 and if that will impact me in trying to get an interview? Interested in possibly working as an analyst at an HF later on, but I think I would enjoy ER and could possibly be a good stepping stone. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the advice, asked a professor who worked in ER if he knew where I could get some research reports to view the layout, I did write a report in the prof's equity analysis class a few months ago and wrote one on a diff industry this summer, think I'll try to find what industry analysts are covering on linkedin then write a report on a stock in the industry they're covering for better results.

Alot of business school libraries give access to online databases where you can read equity research. The databse I used was Mergent Intellect, see if your library has any databases that you can access.
