Sophomore Internship ER Question

Guys, I was fortunate enough to land an ER internship at KBW for this summer before my Junior year and I'm really excited to start in the beginning of June.

Since I am out of school and still have the rest of May, what can I read up on/do ahead of time? I have a basic understanding of financial modeling (DCF, Comps & precedent transactions) but my understanding is that financial institutions are modeled using different metrics.

Can anyone provide me with some color on some of the things I should look into to familiarize myself with the industry? My boss is in charge of regional banks, so smaller, less prestigious institutions. He covers about 11 or 12 of them and needs to rebuild their models from scratch and told me I would be helping a lot with that, in addition to initiating coverage on a few more companies, sitting through earnings season and adjusting our coverage to what we hear. Also mentioned I'd get to head down to the trading floor and meet some of the team, but that's pretty irrelevant. So is there anything you guys would recommend I do? Currently half way through Rosenbaum and I'm a daily reader of the WSJ etc.

Lastly, due to the merger with Stifel, should I list that I worked for KBW or Stifel Nicolaus? Thanks guys.

TL:DR interning at KBW in ER FIG, what can I do to get ahead before I start in June? Also, do I put "Stifel Nicolaus" or KBW on my resume due to the merger?

I also have been trying to break into the equity research space. I would look into reading Best Practices for Equity Research Analysts by James Valentine. Also, become more familiar with the sector your analyst will be covering, read up on the companies he will be covering (go through the Ks, Qs, transcripts, and investor presentations), and start to learn how to read the reports. I'm sure he will help push you towards writing notes in addition to revising models and/or attending conferences.
