speculatively sent CV out - had a little interest - now what?

Okay so here's the deal:

The CV + cover letters I speculatively sent out to various boutique IB's during the last couple of weeks have, at last, received a bit of positive attention. One 'head of research' (more of an economist/strategist) is "interested" by my CV and suggested a meeting to find out more - although he concedes he has no specific opening in mind.

To put in context, after graduating from uni & passing CFA level 1, I have been working for a major company in the financial services sector (albeit not IB, and not equities related) - but I'm very keen to make the move to equity research.

Basically, I am seeking advice as to how best to equip myself for the meeting. Speculatively sending CV's is unlikely to yield many more small windows of opportunites for me, so I ought to prepare as thoroughly as possible.

For a start, I suppose jogging my memory on some of the most significant CFA topics, eg DCF, would be a wise move, but in what other directions should I focus my attention?

Bah - apologies for the vague nature of the post - I would have given more information if I had any... I'm just somewhat anxious to capitalize on the line I've been thrown.

If this is equity research, make sure you polish up on what is going on in the markets. Also they might ask you to pitch a stock. So make sure you have a good understanding of a company that you like, its relevant financial ratios, their business prospects for the future... etc. Again, make sure to come across as really have an understanding and passion for the market.
