Fossil is wicked tight bro!
Have a Frederique Constant, pretty legit
I saw some of their watches recently and read they're a pretty good 'up and comer' in terms of low/mid-range luxury watches (e.g., Tag, Longines, maybe a bit higher than those). A lot (or all) of their watches are made in-house if I remember correctly.
I would throw in Ball watches as a suggestion for Analysts. They have a pretty cool history/backstory, and known to be very well built. Also in a decent price range for a first-respectable watch purchase ($800 to $1500+) I believe. http://www.ballwatchusa.com/

Might I direct your attention here good sir? http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/dress-code-at-bbs

Up for TikTok + ipod Nano!
movado museum collection. simple elegance.
Anything bespoke.
Bulova, Hugo Boss, Seiko, Omega
I'm a big fan of Citizen EcoDrive. Look classy and no battery (solar).
That wouldn't be ideal for the typical vitamin D-deprived analyst
Not "best," but high quality and reasonably priced items for an analyst:
Suits: Ralph Lauren (Polo and Black Label), hickey, Brooks Brothers ($600 - $1500) Shirts: Brooks Brothers, Ralph Lauren, T.M. Lewin, Charles Tyrwhitt ($40 to $100) Pants: Howard Yount, Mabitex, Zanella ($120 to $200) Shoes: Crockett & Jones, Allen Edmonds (Strand, Park Avenue), Church's ($350 to $550) Ties: Sam Hober, Kent Wang, Howard Yount ($50 to $90) Watches: Seiko (Japan made only), Stowa, Sinn, Nomos ($300 to $800)
Don't fall into the Tag watch, Gucci loafer, Ferragamo tie, Armani suit trap. These are for people with more money than sense.
Fossil.
Patek Phillipe makes nice stuff
Miss Ind made a great post about getting an apropriate wardrobe.
id rather get a hamilton than seiko. ew
The watch situation is easy. Don't waste your money on a tacky rolex and don't skimp with a timex.
If you have patience and can wait around for a great brand to turn up, wait to get a big name, quality vintage watch that'll run forever.
Hit your local jewelry or watch stores and see what kind of vintage stuff they've gotten in the way of trade-ins etc. My first nice watch was a vintage Omega that I got for $250. I bargained with the guy and got him to throw in a great looking new band for free. A lot of small town jewelers know that they can't charge a premium for something like an Omega that smaller-town people haven't heard of (but that in the watch world is a fantastic, expensive watch). People that know watches will give you respect, and people that don't won't think you're a tool for wearing a Rolex.
After my last watch died I decided to step my game up and buy a Tag and I can tell you I doubt I would ever get a different brand of watch. I wear that thing all the time no matter what I am doing and it looks just as new as the day I bought it. Buy a cheap watch and it will show over the years, invest in a nice time piece and you will be glad you did. No need to go crazy and get a Rolex or anything like that, just don't cheap out either.
Patek Philippe? Piaget?
Tag Heuer?
I own a number of Skagens. They're reasonably priced, thin(est production watch), and classy.
Also, I own a couple Movados. Simple and classy, slightly more expensive.
Is this watch okay for an incoming iBanking analyst? (Originally Posted: 04/07/2014)

I wear a Pebble...
Yes. ESQ is a step below a full Movado. It's a good entry level watch.
In that price range I'd look at a Hamilton instead.
Do people seriously not have a sense of whether a particular watch is good for their position?
Just wear whatever you want to wear. People have far too much going on in their lives to care about the watch another person wears. I've seen Breitlings and Rolexes on analysts.
Dat custom Breitling make you feel sum type of way
Wear whatever you want. I'm assuming this is a quartz movement, but I'd settle for a nicer auto. I myself wear an Orient Ray and a Tissot PRS516 auto!
A $350 watch is fine.... If you want, don't be scared to spend more..
Nice watch. I get mixed advice on whether the watch band should match one's shoes/belt. What if you're wearing black shoes that day? Would you still wear that ESQ watch?
Yeah I've never been sure about this. I feel like ideally it should match but is it fair to expect a watch in black and every shade of brown.
Nobody cares about your watch
Rocking a Tag Heuer Carrera
Wouldn't waste money on a $400-800 watch. Either buy a $100-200 or get a $1k+ luxury watch. I don't see the point in middle grade watches. It's like saying I care about my watch but am too poor. Under that range, it says I really do not care which is fine, over that range says you do which is fine.
Just my opinion though...
@yeahright: Why not rock a Tag Heuer Aquaracer? Carrera feels kinda casual for the workplace.
Get a tissot with a black leather band and white dial. 42mm dial.
Wear whatever watch you want...shouldn't be that big of a deal. If you don't make a big deal of it then no matter what it is nobody is going to care really.
Honestly, the Tags, Movados, and Oris type watches really don't have much style or personality. Personally, I like MK II watches. Panerai are nice, but too big for some wrists.
Perfect entry watch, I also like Tissot.
Perfect
