Disagree.
See: Shaw, DE
True. It means they won't pay you enough to warrant you getting dressed up, or enough to be able to afford a decent suit.
See: nearly any hedge fund or prop shop.
For client-facing firms and roles, b-cazsh may mean a bit of a step down- I honestly don't know. But for pure money management, generally not- just a different attitude from management.
If you are dressing in a suit everyday you work on the sell-side.

This. LOL.
fully agree with the suit comment haha its true
Suit comment got it right
I meant for client facing positions. I'm on board with the_V on this one. Wonder if this is a way to vet out max potential earnings between different firms.

jane streets website talks blatantly about having lunch served and no dress code.
wompwomp. validate your 'prestige' job more by wearing fancy clothes. im fine chillin in sweats, sandals and shorts at work
If you run a regression based on several factors by assigning value to tie brand, douchiness of suit, cost of shirt, and ferragamo loafers (binary variable), then you get an r-squared of .99, pretty darn good if you ask me. Then again, I'm going into IBD so I'm only competent with basic math.
talk to JSC about the correlation between comp and business formal, as others have said.
disagree. I wouldn't mind maken 2.75mm as a entry FA though;)
I always thought it was funny that most of the IBs that went bust in 2008 were the ones that required suits.
Damn I was going to inb4, short and his sweatpants comment beat me to it... shit pay= Shirt, tie and nametag.... everyday... (see: any fast food manager)
Serious question to all BC/Cas people on here. Do you think you'd be making more if the culture were Suit/Tie? Less? Unchanged?
Really? How would wearing a suit make you better at your job, which I guess would lead you to make more money? Does wearing a suit increase your IQ, analytic abilities or problem solving skills?
If you were somehow coming off as unprofessional to clients, a suit could maybe help, but honestly, it doesn't matter.
Personally, I would be less productive in a more formal environment because I think ties are uncomfortable.
