First Year Analyst Watches
What luxury watches are acceptable for A1 to wear in the office? Figure Rolexes are too flashy but can an A1 get away with a dressy JLC, Omega, or IWC without raising too much attention or judgement?

Just wear your apple watch or a not luxury watch for the first few days and then don't wear a nicer watch than your senior analysts/associates
For the love of god, please stop wearing apple watches with business casual. You guys looks like you’re fresh off the Spy Kids movie set.
I would say wearing a Roley probably even makes more sense than wearing an Apple Watch to be honest
Wear whatever you want (even a rolex as long as its not iced out or anything). Of course if you have a nice PP or AP then that might get looks but Rolex are common enough (especially a Datejust).
I wear an AP RO and no-one seems to bat an eye (though throughout my analyst years I only wore an apple watch)
This is stupid
Wear whatever you want. Stop being inhibited and susceptible to peer pressure. Pull up with a Richard Mille and stunt on your MD.
I know people wearing Rolexes, I wear a JLC and never got comments on it other than people saying they love it (in most cases they were really into watches and we had a good convo). All watches are acceptable as long as they are not in your face kinda watches.
Don’t care if I’m alone, out here rocking my Casio. I’d rather let my work speak about the kind of analyst I am, and spend my money on other stuff.
god these posts are so retarded
Whatever you want to wear. The watch is for you to hopefully get things done on time and even ahead of schedule if possible as well as for you to look good/feel good so you are a happy employee. If that means you wear a rolly or whatever other watch you want, I say go for it. I doubt anyone will care so much. Worst case you get a comment or two and then people go back to worrying/caring about themselves and their own lives… good luck man, best wishes
Tudor Black Bay all the way
Love the Black Bay. First on my list atm.
How heavy is it? Been eyeing it but was surprised by how thick it was
I have small wrists but surprisingly can wear it as my daily without a problem. The New Black Bay 58s are smaller (less thiccc), so definitely look in to those too!
Wear whatever you want. JLC is excellent value used, same with IWC sometimes but IWC has a lot of overpriced models IMO as they have ETA movements VS in-house that other brands offer at the same price point.
You can also pick something up from a small independent who uses ETA movements but does extensive finishing and custom work in that price range. Personally that's the way I would go with a ~$8000 - $12,000 budget. Check out Kudoke, Benzinger, etc...

Agreed. Also Habring, Laine (their new ones with Vaucher movements looks like a great value), etc.
Yea! Finally someone with good taste lol
Dare I say - Grand Seiko
You're going to get run out of here on a rail for saying that. Nobody cares that they're better finished than Rolex or have some insanely sweet movements they're JAPANESE!
In all seriousness, nobody cares what you wear as long as you own it and aren't a dick about it. In my world apple watches are common and fine, personally I enjoy wearing my SKX-009 (Seiko Pepsi Diver) daily when I'm not mucking around with some micro-brand stuff I own.
That's a good choice - a MD who enjoys his watches would definitely appreciate someone wearing a GS
God I love grand seiko. My first big purchase will probably be a Snowflake or the new cherry blossom pieces. Had a chance to look at them in their Soho boutique and absolutely fell in love. The dials are stunning with the way they catch the lights and they’re so thin considering their incredible complexity and innovation. Once you get past the Swiss prestige obsession (which most people on this site probably can’t given the obsession with prestige here), grand seikos become very, very attractive timepieces.
Just buy something cheap or don’t wear one.
Nothing good is going to come from wearing a Rolex as a first year analyst. Everyone knows you didn’t buy it with your own money given it’s your first job and 95% won’t care but 5% will think your a spoiled douche.
Eh not necessarily true. Made a few hundred thousand the last year from personal trading as an incoming FT and know a few other FTs in a similar situation. Personally, don't care for watches, but I do own some expensive or "flashy" accessories that I wear outside of the office. I bought it all myself and didn't grow up with anything so don't care what anyone think who may see me outside, but I suppose it could still come off a certain way if OP did wear a Rolex or something even from their own money.

I'm gonna be flexing my $30 digital Timex. Waterproof, built in stopwatch, alarms, and timers!
If I could redo my first year analyst watch it would have been an Omega Speedmaster, today I think they are a bit overpriced and the best choice is the Tudor Black Bay.
Will also give a lot of credit to Longines, they make luxury watches at the best price hands down and you get something solid for what you pay for. Tissot / Seiko are great for BO and MO people.
I have a speedy and Longines dress watch so definitely agree with you on that. Also have to say FC, Nomos, and Grand Seiko have tremendous value as well
Personally I don’t like Grand Seiko but they are well made watches. I want a Nomos next though
Richard Mille
DELETED
I don't tell u how to spend your money, you don't tell me how I spend mine.
Lol then don't spend that much on a watch. Get something cheaper. Plenty of good options at or under a 1000. And still more options in the 200 range. No one will care at all what watch you wear, whether it's a 100 buck Skagen or a 10000 omega, unless you draw attention to it
Where would Cartier Tank sit in the ‘hierarchy’?
Im 50-50 on it. Its kind of a flashy watch but not ungodly expensive. Make sure you get one that is automatic and not quartz
Love the santos de cartier, thoughts?
Tudor Black Bay all day.
I’d go with a grande lange.
