GS new dress code

As some of you may know by now, GS just announced their new "casual" dress code. So i was wondering what would you consider wearing into the office? Also, do you think it is a good idea to change the formal suit attire that's so typical of wall street? Is this a growing trend?

In terms of what I would consider wearing to the office (my firm recently changed to a business casual attire as well) would be Slacks and a dress shirt M-T and perhaps dressing down to Khakis and a shirt Friday...

Honestly some people abuse the hell out of it and wear jeans (that don't fit well) / sneakers / so on and so forth.

I personally own more well fitting slacks than jeans and personally find slacks lighter and more comfortable across the board so I never really made the jump to jeans. Also I feel like wearing a dress shirt isn't all that uncomfortable either (unless they fit you really poorly / etc).

So basically my daily would still be slacks, shirt, no tie, watch, sometimes a pullover sweater in the winter.

unsolicited recommendation, but since I started wearing LuluLemon dress pants they have become a staple. Flexibility and high quality fabric are ummatched.

Our bank went to this about a year ago and it hasn't gotten out of hand. It kinda varies by person but I'd say the "average" dress would be either chinos or slacks and then a dress shirt / button down (sweater or vest over the top in the winter). It'd say it gets a little more casual in the summer since its so GD hot - lot of guys will just wear a polo and jeans / chinos

Yes 100%.

Just enter the room and follow protocol of what the interviewees are wearing. If they have a suit on keep yours own. If they take their jacket off, take yours off and hang it on a chair.... If they're dressed down in jeans then there either just take your suit jacket off, or if you can do it away from them, take off both jacket and tie. You won't be incredibly over dressed in any of these situations.

Just keep the suit and tie on if you're interviewing for IBD regardless of the interviewers, don't strip down to biz casual in the bathroom. You won't get knocked for it.

If you're interviewing at a tech firm, or Fortune 500 FP&A group or something, I agree the tie can work against you and would take it off.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.
