Some folks view elbow holes as a point of pride, a badge of honor. I'm OCD AF and can't let them slide (no pun intended)
My roommate showed me some of his CT shirts that this happened to. had never happened to any of mine. He probably got a defective batch or something. He's a bit OCD so he still had the receipt for them, months later. Took them back, they exchanged for brand new shirts. Again, I've never had it happen to any of my shirts, but if it does, its good to see that CT stands by their products.
I have 5 shirts from CT, 2 different styles. Tried 2 shirt on, too big put them back in the box and haven't touched the box since then. It's been 3 months, I got super busy and forgot about them. Do you think I can still send them back?
I'm not sure if there is a different policy for straight-up returns/exchanges but if you still have the receipt I don't see why not. I'd also suggest looking at the slim fit/extra slim fit styles if the ones you got feel "too big"
Charles Tyrwhitt accepts returns upto 6 months after purchase. Once, I wore a shirt for a couple of days.. didn't like the fit.. walked into the CT showroom wearing it ... and walked out with a brand new shirt after exchange. That said, dont abuse the the return policy. I am sure they track it somewhere.. wouldn't you?
Do your sleeves need to be longer?
Nope, sleeve length is fine. Roll em up usually to feel like a baws though

I feel your pain. Definitely due to resting your elbow on the desk. Had this with several shirts of different brands so it's certainly me/you rather than a specific brand.
This is the inevitable fate of CT shirts. I suggest trying Brooks Brothers Milano fit instead. Or going bespoke, which can be $70-100 for a fair-priced shirt?
+1 on the BB Milano fit. All of my shirts are Brooks Milano, aside from a few old Ralph Lauren. Not baggy at all, high quality, and lasts for a while (collar has started tearing at the fold on a couple old ones).
This is why you dry-clean your shirts instead of washing and ironing them at home. Your shirts will last longer if you dry-clean them. Washing and ironing them yourself wears the fabric down much faster than if you were to have it done professionally.
Are you sure they are actually "dry cleaning" them? I think most places will put shirts/pants into regular laundry.
I also love to put my elbows on the desk. One thing I've done is make sure my elbows rest on paper or notebooks instead of the desk itself. Most of my shirts are fairly new right now so I won't know if this helps for a while. Just my two cents

I have a terrible habit of putting my elbows on the desk and raising my forearms up to rest my head on my hands when I get lost in something I'm working on, probably straining the elbow fabric even further. Just had to toss out 2 more shirts.
I definitely notice that certain types bite the dust faster though.
I had this problem with a few of my shirts as well. Took them to one tailor to repair, they did a shoddy job and they tore again. Took them to another tailor and they did an excellent job, still holding. Also, like you, I keep my elbows off my desk for the most part. Or at least have it so it's mostly my upper-arm on my desk.
Curious if the whole elbow on table thing applies to chair arm rests as well. I haven't had this issue - if it matters, I dry clean 50% of my shirts.
This happens to me constantly. I blow out the left elbow on all my shirts eventually. It's from putting your elbow on your desk when you read docs. I guess buying baggy shirts would help, but I'm never going to do that either. I'm hoping if I get a standing desk this is mitigated to some extent.
I think just understanding shirts are going to get destroyed and buying them in bulk/on sale from places like CT or Rack is the way to go.
This happened to me ALL the time until I figured what really caused it. Funny part is that it was always my RIGHT sleeve that always tore. Watched how I rested my arms and it was always my right arm resting against the rubbered chair arm causing the tight friction (shirt being slim fit did not help either).
I'd suggest taking a look at exactly what's causing it and changing behavior. Don't blame the brand too much.
