Skinny Suit?
Hello
I was wondering whether it would be appropriate to wear a skinny suit to an interview and subsequently, everyday to work. I'm not talking Russell Brand skinny or anything, just something like this http://us.topman.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Pr…
I am pretty much the same frame as that guy, tall and skinny.
So what do you think?
as long as you have some of these to go with it: http://www.spanx.com/category/index.jsp?categoryId=3955558
I wouldn't recommend it - too slim, especially the pants.
And please, never ever wear skinny ties.
Why would I need Spanx specifically?
Oh, I just got that. A bit slow tonight lol. I assure you I wish I had enough meat on me to need Spanx. I'm almost broomstick thin
why not skinny ties?
@Valk, lol I stay away from skinny ties in general. Thanks for your non-sarcastic input though. greatly apreciated
The guy in the skinny suit looks like some sort of dancing elf. Definitely not banking appropriate.
What the fuck is this? Keep that emo/hipster faggotry to yourself.
no.
If you're the riddler, you should get the matching cane and bowler hat:

Otherwise, leave the Halloween costume home and get a real suit if you want a real job. Do you have any idea how competetive this year will be??? Do not hamstring yourself by playing dress up.
ahahahahahahahahaha
Looks like someone had a little too much testosterone for dinner. I was asking opinions on a public forum. Yes'sand No's will suffice, thank you
Sorry, I didn't read the instructions.
No.
Flake's a fucking dick, ignore him. Suit is bad but skinny ties are OK generally. I have worn them for work and for interviews. With the right suit, its fine.
No.
For real though, NO, this isn't a good idea. Sticking out will ONLY work against you. As far as skinny ties go, they seldom look professional, and the image of power and wealth is preferred over trendy at all times.
^^^ amazing
Rule of thumb on wall street is that you can only pull that suit off if you look like Todd cleary from wedding crashers and are a waiter at a Hollywood industry party.
don't buy a polyester suit
The only way you can pull this suit off is if you get a pair of shoes in the link below...

The more square your toe, the closer you get to Seaside.
^ Key phrase "black men's".
OP, no. The general rule of thumb is that your tie width should correspond closely to your lapel width. The reason the model in your link has got on such a skinny tie is because the jacket is so fashion forward. When you think of finance, does the term 'fashion forward' pop into your mind in the same sentence? Shouldn't. I don't wear anything slimmer than 7cm in the office, and I'm young and slender and even then it raises some eyebrows. For a first impression, probably not your strongest move bro.
LOLOLOL
hahahahaha!!
If you can pull it off, by all means wear it. A friend of mine who's a male model wore a skinny suit to his interview.
If he had gotten the job, you would have mentioned it...
Look, if you have to ask, don't do it.
If cost is an issue, go to Brooks Bros outlet, buy something that matches, and tailor the shit out of it.
Pretty gay, dude.
Successful troll is successful.
absolutely not.....skinny tie fine whatever, but the suit pictured is terrible dude.
The slimmest suit acceptable I think is the Brooks Brothers Milano fit. Topman is for the emos that go and hang out in coffee bars all day and talk about equality.
Point taken, no skinny suit.
That said, this post is pretty hilarious. The square toe shoe is a pretty good idea. Maybe I'll get them to go with my ill-fitting suit and bulky briefcase
Good luck.
Good luck.

I'm in NYC and looking to buy 2-3 suits. Looking to pay 300-500 each (so tailored is probably out of my budget).
I'm fairly short and skinny. Off the rack, I need ~36S european cut. Any advice on where I should be looking?
Most places only have 1 or 2 36R if anything... I found one I liked at tyrwhitt for $450, but it was pretty pricey for the quality IMO (never bought a suit from them before though)
36S???
Have you considered joining the circus?
i'm 5"7, is that already circus height =(
i think i'm just skinnier than the average american. that and shorter than the average i guess.
Posted this in another thread, but tailored is not out of the question with that budget.

looks pretty good, have you used these guys? how's the quality of the suits?
would you recommend this over for example the set i saw at CT for $450?
I have two suits from them and the quality is exceptional for the price. As long as you measure yourself correctly (i'd recommend measuring yourself several times or having someone else help) they fit like a glove. They'll also reimburse you for any further alterations at a local tailor.
You really should really have them tailored, its extremly hard to find a suit that fits well off the rack, however im 6'2 so that might be it. And you could have two suits tailored well on that budget.
^what? where can i get 2 tailored suits in NYC for $500 total (or $500 each for that matter)?
any recommendations would be great, i'd be happy to get tailored instead of rack.
Sorry I meant 1500 total budget, and its not a bad idea to check outside the city my man
Check out Filene's Basement on E 14th St.
where are you getting 2 tailored for $1500? i might be up for that too.
yelp made to measure suits.... get 2 for 1500 for sure and the quality be unbelievable
I know that I'm probably going to look like a fool for mentioning this but here goes...
I think you and I are about the same. I'm 5'7" 130lbs. skinny as hell. I've spent a while trying to find a suit that works for me. Jones New York, CK, Kenneth Cole, Hugo, etc. My problem is that I still felt like I was swimming in the jacket and pants, couldn't find anything slim fitting. Well, I went into a K & G last month (owned by Men's Warehouse) and the sales guy convinced me to try one of their suits. It's called Linea Uomo. I wasn't sure at first but after I put it on...MAN! This suit fits my figure perfectly. High armpits, tappered through the jacket, and the slacks are the most comfortable pants I've ever worn. 100% wool, and get this...only $100.
There are a couple K & G stores in NYC, give it a shot, see if it works. And if it does let me know. I have searched high and low for some suit advice online without much help.

I cannot vouch for them. I've heard of these places mentioned for +/- $500 range depending how many suits you purchase:
Imparli Custom Tailors Custom Men La Rukico My Tailor Mohan's
there is a place on madison and 47th called mysuitny that does made to measure for $500. it's not true made to measure, ie they don't build hte suit from scratch, but you get to choose the fabric, stitching, buttons, and they measure everything. i bought one and it looks great. like lots of people i have problems finding a suit that fits me properly.
