What Not To Wear
Hey guys,
So I have read and heard that SA's shouldn't wear loafers, so what are they supposed to wear?
Thanks.

Open toe if you have
simple, charcoal/grey/navy suit. oxford shoes- brown and black. light colored shirts- white/blue usually with ties with a conservative pattern. Absolutely do not wear squared toe shoes or a black shirt. Never wear a black shirt.
Agree w. fudbox -
Charcoal / grey suits are acceptable, navy safest option. Go with two buttons, no more - certainly no double breasted suits or three-pieces.
Conservative shirts (no pink, NO BLACK). Frankly, you shouldn't even wear black shirts outside of work. No monograms, no Ralph Lauren logos. French cuffs with understated cufflinks preferred.
Ties will likely not be required, however if they are needed, vouch for a conservative pattern. Blue ties w. white shirts (and blue / grey suits) work well, as does burgundy w. white shirts and blue suits.
Polished black / dark brown oxfords (NO TAN). Round toed, lace-tied. Avoid brogues. Statement socks at your discretion, safest option dark blue plain socks.
If you're going to wear blue shirts, also worth considering wearing a white under-tee - will help to hide / avoid sweat stains.
Bring deodorant to the office and order roughly two pairs of suit trousers for every blazer. For your suits, if buying new, go for fit over brand. Try not to over-gel your hair and keep a cotton handkerchief for brow / palm sweat (no one likes a clammy handshake).
Agree with all that.... except walnut "tan shoes". They look great with a navy suit. I wear mine 2-3 days a week and no one has said a thing. Personally, If someone makes a big fuss about if your shoes aren't brown enough, they can royally fuck off haha.
Can't emphasize enough. No black shirts ever. Work, social setting, anything. You're not Bradley Cooper who can pull off the all black look from Hangover 1.
If the word “tan” can describe your shoes, don’t wear them to work.
The autistic generation - where questions such as "what type of shoes should I wear" are posed and yield multi-paragraph responses
this wasn't posed. it was a real question.
pose1 pōz/Submit verb past tense: posed; past participle: posed 1. present or constitute (a problem, danger, or difficulty). "the sheer number of visitors is posing a threat to the area" synonyms: constitute, present, create, cause, produce, be "pollution poses a threat to health"

Summer Analysts aren't allowed to wear loafers? Where did you come up with this malarkey, your university finance club? I came in with gators on my feet that four people in Bangladesh died making. When we had a group outing to Pier 25 Mini Golf, the managing director complimented my sleds and told me he'd like to cop a similar pair. No one really notices what you wear in the office as long as you're a humble Sepoy who works hard.
Loafers are fine, I don’t even know where you kids come up with this stuff.
Let me tell you what I wear. If you don't wear like me I am fine.
Buddy, if you don't know how to dress yourself in the morning, you may want to think about going to work in tech.
That being said get three suits, a navy, a grey, and a charcoal. Do not get a black suit. Ever.
Brooks Brother's shirts are my favorite, but places like TM Lewin and Charles Trywhitt will do sales on dress shirts for like 29.95. I picked up two and I actually like them. Get a bunch of whites and blues. Boring, but let's be honest, so is iBanking.
I hardly ever wear ties unless I am at a conference or am meeting with a potential investment at one of our Banker's office. Just get Brooks Brothers, or not. Who cares. I've never actually seen anyone give the "Hong Kong Handshake"
As far as shoes, yeah the Gucci's you may want to hold off until you "earn them". (Same thing with Hermes ties, tbh) Get a pair of the Allen Edmond Park Ave's in black and brown. If that is more than you want to spend, get Cole Haans. Really, nobody gives a fuck. Nobody is going to roast you on Insta.
FWIW I've worn some kind of loafer every day since 8th grade, this includes in a professional setting. Nobody will care if you are wearing a nice penny or tassel loafer. (Semi related, there was like a whole chapter dedicated to this in the book American Psycho)
