iPhone App Needs Much Improvement

Anyone find the iPhone app severely lacking and unusable? Anytime I click a WSO thread link in the Safari app, it opens the WSO app but never loads the thread. Whenever I get a push notification it just gives a loading screen but never loads the thread. I get constant alerts to "UPDATE" or "SKIP UPDATE" within the app (which is not a typical app update path...usually all polished apps do it via the iOS appstore), and can't help but think this mobile app has been totally botched and may need to be built from the ground up again. This is my experience across a few devices now including install/reinstalls.

It's unfortunate because I think we take it for granted what a "good app" like Reddit or Instagram or Facebook should feel like, and WSO app as of now certainly is far from it. The most obvious reason to have an app installed is get greater user granularity with how they are engaging with the forum and for the user, having highly relevant push notifications with a sleek interface that supersedes using the HTML4-esque experience of the site.Other forum apps like Reddit or Blind I'm sure take a lot of work but that's the idea with having an app to expand the mobile user base (i guess Blind makes sense since its by software engineers for software engineers).

I had not seen any discussions regarding this so thought I would mention it as feedback at the least.

Separately - is there some weird trick to searching for stuff or is the built-in search functionality on WSO mostly unusable? I can open a thread, type in the exact keywords of the thread and it brings up way different search results than what I am looking for.

I'll say it again - the website app and mobile-web platform are severely lacking.

A month ago I could subscribe to threads so that I would get notified when a new posts is added. I literally have no idea if new posts are added to a thread unless someone directly replies to me. So I just don't even follow up with threads I'm interested in anymore.

This website and community deserves a rebuilt from the ground-up application (and website backend), it simply too large of a community to just continue slugging on with a shitty back-end from 2006. And when I say shitty, I am saying this WSO back-end is absolute horse shit. I know it's painful (and maybe cost more) but I also know Patrick acknowledges it's the right decision to make longer-term.
