1st round interview - Fundamental Commodities Analyst a multi-strategy shop
Hey everyone, posting here for the first time, so please excuse any faux pas. I've a first round call with a quant researcher/trader at a multi-strategy shop for a Fundamental Commodities Analyst role, and I’d really appreciate advice on what to expect. My background is in CDD for private credit, where I developed strong fundamentals skills. Mostly building S&D balance models, trade-flow frameworks, and market driver. Should I expect math/probability questions or brainteasers, coding (Python), or mostly commodities fundamentals + how I think? Any tips or common questions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
My current role sounds similar to what you describe. I did not have any technical questioning throughout the interview process. Quant funds hire fundamentals analysts for their understanding of market dynamics, which can be used to inform/tailor quantitative strategies. It’s good for you to have python experience but a fund is not going to rely on a fundamentals analyst for groundbreaking code work.
My interview process was mostly around discussing the market. Views and trade ideation/scoping. Unsure whether yours will be exactly the same, but that was my experience.
Hey thanks for the response, appreciate it! Can I dm you? I've a few questions about the interview. Thanks.
Yes sure
