6 months as a credit analyst and not enjoying the job - options?

I'm a first year analyst at a credit focused fund and after about 6 months on the job I can't say I'm really enjoying myself. I don't hate the job, but I've realized I'm just not really passionate about markets and I miss working on more transactional projects (I spent two years in banking before). I think PE would probably be a better fit for me or even working in-house in a strategy / Corp dev role.

How difficult would the transition into PE be from here? Would it necessitate getting an MBA? Or would I be able to lateral from my position here? Any other advice for people that find working at HFs isn't for them?
