Any biopharma L/S funds that take people out of undergrad?

I am a undergrad really interested in biopharma long short investing and hoping to skip to buyside out of college. Besides the big pod shops, are there any specific biopharma funds I should be targeting? I've heard of deerfield management but pretty sure theyve only taken people out of UG from a diversity program.

Wtf do you know about Biopharma out of undergrad? I have an MD and I’m still not ready to recruit for the Buyside?

What was your undergrad degree in?

Wondering if you still think this is still true for an undergrad with a lot of experience (eg BioE undergrad, published papers, experience in Biopharma BD, following market constantly)

Can somebody explain the whole "need a phd to follow biopharma" to me? I honestly just don't get it

Biotech hiring is unstructured at all levels. Some funds require you have a graduate degree while others explicitly don’t care (e.g. EcoR1). Your best shot is to cold email different funds. Not unattainable out of undegrad, but it’s rare.

FWIW - some of the biotech dedicated roles you’re referring to have hired out of undergrad these last 2-3 years; just do a quick LinkedIn search, and you’ll see a lot from UPenn. These are LO and/or high quality funds that rarely hire. Common denominator seems to be some dual track of Finance + Bio with research experience and relevant internships.
